Air Pegasus, a short-lived regional airline in India, symbolized the challenges of operating in the highly competitive and regulated Indian aviation sector. Based in Bangalore (now Bengaluru), the airline was established to connect underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities with major metros in South India. Despite its promising start, financial difficulties and operational challenges led to its downfall.
Air Pegasus was founded in 2014 by Shyson Thomas, CEO of Decor Aviation, a ground-handling service provider. Leveraging the experience and infrastructure of its parent company, Air Pegasus aimed to fill the gap in India's regional aviation market, which was ripe for growth under the government's push for improved connectivity.
The airline launched operations on April 12, 2015, with a maiden flight from Bengaluru to Hubballi.

Fleet Limitations: With just three ATR 72-500 aircraft, Air Pegasus had a constrained capacity to expand its operations and meet growing demand.

By mid-2016, Air Pegasus faced mounting debts, including overdue lease payments for its aircraft. As a result, its lessors repossessed its planes, forcing the airline to suspend operations on July 27, 2016.
The airline attempted to resume flights by seeking new investors and re-negotiating debts. However, these efforts were unsuccessful. In 2017, Air Pegasus lost its operating license, effectively marking the end of its journey.
Adding to its woes, legal battles with creditors and disputes over unpaid salaries tarnished its image further.
